Black Cat Appreciation Day
Just for Fun

It’s Black Cat Appreciation Day!

Happy Black Cat Appreciation Day! These days, it’s a safe bet any given day is considered a holiday for one thing or another. It’s a mixed bag, but they’re all pretty fun in the end! Every now and then, one rolls around that actually tries to do a little good for our furry friends, and we at The Paper Store – the animal lovers that we are – simply can’t pass those up!
Black Cat Appreciation Day
Did you know that black cats are less likely to be adopted than other cats here in the U.S.? Hard to believe (because they’re so darn cute), but it’s true. Chalk it up to silly superstition. In some cultures, black cats are actually considered good luck, so let’s take a note from them instead and show black cats some love! When looking to adopt a sweet, little kitty, consider giving a black cat their forever home.
Besides being absolutely adorable, many black cats are also famous!

Chances are, you’ve seen or at least heard of one of these famous, black cats! There’s Thackery Binx (yes, Thackery) from Disney’s Hocus Pocus, Salem from Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and this writer’s personal favorite…Jiji from Kiki’s Delivery Service! The first two were portrayed by real cats on set at least some of the time, but Jiji is pure, hand-drawn awesomeness (and he’s got a wit to match)!
I may have even named my own black cat Kiki, since she’s also awesome like Jiji!
