O Christmas Tree

O' Christmas Tree

With only 12 days left to Christmas, one wonders about "The 12 Days of Christmas"; these are not they.  The twelve days of Christmas actually begin on Christmas Eve and end January 6th.

This brings us to Christmas trees because today while most of us either have our tree up and decorated or our hunting for it tonight, traditionally, Christmas trees were not brought in and decorated until Christmas Eve. The trees were removed the day after twelfth night
(January 6th).

Some of the earliest tree history from 1570 reports how a small tree was decorated with "apples, nuts, dates, pretzels and paper flowers."
